Sr. Mechanical & Marine Engineer

Design, engineering and specification of mechanical systems and fluid systems for marine installations. Managing and supporting Mechanical and Systems Engineers & Designers in his/ her team.

•Contributing to the design of mechanical systems and marine systems;
•Developing technical basis of design and basic designs;
•Carrying out calculations of mechanical equipment and components and of marine systems.
•Preparation of technical specifications and documentation of systems and equipment;
•Evaluation of available components and/or systems;
•Managing and guiding other employees in his team and/or the execution;
•Monitor man-hour budgets, planning and the quality of the project activities, to be carried out;
•Checking document-deliverables against the agreed requirements of customers and regulatory bodies and guarantee the quality required;
•Attend regular team meetings with colleagues from other disciplines within the project;
•Contribute to various project related discussions or meetings (internal and external);
•Keep and maintain contacts with customers and suppliers in consultation with the (Project) Management;
•Help improve the expertise within the company amongst others by:
•keeping abreast of discipline related developments, relevant software tools and general and specific work procedures,
•keeping abreast of available discipline related courses;
•Remaining in touch with quality procedures and work methods and instructing the designers assigned when necessary;
•Keeping project and general design files up to date.

•Completed TU/TH (MSc/BSc) diploma and relevant level of working, preferably Mechanical or Marine Systems Engineering;
•Good knowledge of and experience with relevant software applications (Microsoft applications and designing software, e.g. FE, dynamic analysis-software);
•Familiarity of working with technical standards, rules and regulations for mechanical and marine engineering.
•Good knowledge of (technical) English in both speaking and writing;
•Good team working and social skills;
•Flexible work attitude / immune to stress;
•Experience with engineering and calculations for mechanical equipment and systems. Experience gained within the Maritime Industry is an advantage.

Our client is a Naval Architecture and Marine engineering firm that designs ships, constructions and installations for offshore, naval and specialist vessels. They provide a multidisciplinary package of services for the total design and engineering of maritime projects such as turret integration, semi-submersibles, jack-ups, landing craft, submarines, support vessels and patrol ships. They offer support in all project phases including feasibility studies.

They specialises in ship design and Marine engineering including the conceptual development of special ships and Naval vessels and the design of offshore vessels with their associated equipment. They are in an independent and good position to assess third parties’ designs and detailing objectively and to be involved in detailed technical discussions with third parties.
In the market of submarines they offer a wide range of services, ranging from specific-purpose study assignments to complete basic and detail design and engineering projects.
Their areas of excellence are: organisational infrastructure for design process control, specialist knowledge of technical applications in submarines and proven experience and availability of the necessary capacity.
